For 2025, the Husqvarna TC 65 at Lings Husqvarna comfortably holds its position as the best-in-class 65 cc motocross machine. For many young riders, it will be their first experience of riding motocross with a manual clutch and gears, a transition made easy by the lightweight hydraulic clutch and smooth-shifting 6-speed gearbox.
At its heart, the TC 65 is assembled with the latest in 2-stroke technology. Its 64.9 cm³, 1-cylinder engine is highly competitive in its class. The highlight of the engine is undoubtedly the pressure-controlled exhaust valve (PCEV) that ensures top-level performance, giving young riders a distinct advantage. Fueling is managed by a Mikuni VM 24 carburetor, with settings optimized to maximize engine performance. Cooling is handled efficiently by two radiators, replicating the design found on Husqvarna's full-size motocross machines, with simplified hose routing and strong protectors for durability. Starting is quick and reliable via a kickstarter, and the HIDRIA ECU provides precise engine management.
The TC 65 is designed to accommodate a wide range of youngsters, offering multiple ways to adjust the ergonomics of the chassis. The handlebars can be mounted in four different positions, the rear shock can be positioned from a standard high position into a lower setting, and the subframe and bodywork can be installed in two different places to suit each individual rider's height and setup preference. The frame itself is made from chromium molybdenum steel, enhancing the riding experience thanks to its precise geometry and flex. Mirroring a proven design concept from larger models, the shock is not connected to the upper frame tube, which reduces the energy transferred through the chassis and leads to greater stability. The subframe, a new hybrid construction, combines polyamide reinforced with glass fibre and two steel bars for lightweight durability.
The TC 65 features 35 mm WP XACT upside-down forks, which are lightweight and offer exceptional damping and comfort, with 215 mm of wheel travel. The air spring in the left fork leg can be easily adjusted using the supplied air pump to create the perfect setup. The WP XACT PDS monoshock provides 253.5 mm of rear suspension travel. Braking performance is confident and reliable, thanks to hydraulically operated Formula brake calipers biting on 198 mm waved front and 180 mm waved rear discs. The bike rolls on lightweight aluminium hubs laced to black anodized aluminium rims, fitted with Maxxis Maxxcross MX-ST tyres for excellent traction and predictability. The clean and sleek bodywork offers comfortable ergonomics with large contact points, allowing youngsters to grip the bike tighter for enhanced control. A flat seat profile also offers unrestricted movement, and a redesigned airbox with a snap-lock mounting design simplifies air filter changes.
