The Husqvarna EE 5 at Lings Husqvarna is a fully-fledged electric motocross machine, expertly crafted to the highest standards and capable of competing against its 50cc fuel-powered counterparts.1 This pioneering model is the culmination of Husqvarna Motorcycles' rich motocross history and the latest e-technology, designed for everyone from complete beginners to aspiring young racers.
At its heart, the EE 5 features a powerful 48V BLDC electric motor with an outer rotor, engineered to be slim and extremely compact.3 This permanent magnet motor delivers a peak power output of 5 kW, rivaling combustion-engine competition.4 New for 2025, the motor is now water-cooled to extend running time by 30% and maintain optimal performance with no loss of power.5 The water pump is controlled by the battery and activates when any ride mode is engaged. The motor is also water and dust-proof, making it largely maintenance-free. Power is supplied by a proven Li-Ion battery, mounted inside a robust die-cast aluminium casing, providing 907 Wh of stored energy for up to two hours of general riding or 30 minutes at a fast pace in the highest ride mode.6 An external charger (900 W) allows for fast recharging, achieving an 80% charge in just 45 minutes and a full charge in 70 minutes. Six different ride modes offer customizable power delivery to suit a wide range of rider abilities.
The chassis is built around a chrome-molybdenum steel central-tube frame, ensuring a strong, light, and balanced foundation. WP XACT 35 USD upside-down forks provide 205 mm of travel, while a WP XACT PDS monoshock offers 193 mm of rear wheel travel, both ensuring exceptional comfort and performance.7 The EE 5 is highly adaptable and adjustable for height, allowing it to "grow" with the rider.8 The standard seat height of 674 mm can be lowered to 626 mm with simple adjustments to the bodywork, seat, rear shock position, and fork height. For confident stopping power, hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm discs are fitted both front and rear. Premium components include MAXXIS ST tyres for maximum grip and NEKEN handlebars with ODI grips. A multifunctional instrument display between the steering head and seat provides easy access to battery life and ride mode selection, with a safety dongle beneath the seat to prevent accidental changes to more powerful settings. A rollover sensor and wrist lanyard key further enhance safety by disengaging power in the event of a fall.
