When it comes to power-to-weight ratios, the KTM 300 SX writes the rule book. Now with learnings taken directly from the KTM Factory Racing teams, and a care package labeled "Go get 'em!", the 2025 KTM 300 SX is engineered for one task alone - to lead from the front.
At the heart of this machine is a new 293.2 cm³ 1-cylinder, 2-stroke engine, weighing just 23.9 kg. This powerhouse brings a new choice of weapon into the MX Open category, providing maximum power at the least possible weight. With Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) via a Keihin throttle body and an electronic power valve, the 300 SX delivers smooth, usable power across the entire rev range, ensuring optimal performance at any altitude without the need for fiddly jetting. An electric starter, powered by a robust 12.8V 2 Ah lithium-ion battery, provides instant and reliable starts, even in the heat of a race. Riders can also choose between two engine maps via a map select switch: Map 1 offers a linear, predictable power, while Map 2 provides crisp, explosive output.
The 2025 KTM 300 SX features major chassis updates directly from Factory Racing efforts. The central double-cradle-type 25CrMo4 steel frame has been reworked around the rear shock mount and includes new engine mounts with cut-outs, resulting in improved chassis flex, better cornering behavior, and a 300g weight saving. The WP XACT AER 48mm upside-down forks and WP XACT monoshock with linkage have been re-tuned for 2025, offering improved response and easy, tool-free adjustability for both high and low-speed compression, as well as rebound. The shock absorber geometry also improves ground clearance of the linkage. Lightweight and strong black anodized spoked wheels with aluminum rims are fitted with new Dunlop GEOMAX MX34 Motocross tyres, featuring new carcass and rubber compounds for improved damping, absorption, and enhanced traction. Braking is handled by powerful Brembo disc brakes, with a 260mm front and 220mm rear disc for exceptional stopping power. Ergonomically, new bi-compound tank shrouds improve radiator airflow, while a new fuel tank roll improves fitment and durability. An upgraded rear brake pedal adds stiffness and improved feel.
