Our awesome little GasGas MC 65 at Lings GasGas is where riding pure motocross really begins. With its smooth-shifting manual transmission, this might be the first dirt bike on which kids learn how to change gears and, most importantly, when to do so to find the fast way around any circuit.
At its heart, the MC 65 is assembled with the latest in 2-stroke technology. Its 64.9 cc, 1-cylinder engine is highly competitive in its class. The highlight of the engine is undoubtedly the pressure-controlled exhaust valve (PCEV) that ensures top-level performance, giving young riders a distinct advantage. Fueling is managed by a Mikuni VM 24 carburetor, with settings optimized to maximize engine performance. Cooling is handled efficiently by two radiators, replicating the design found on GasGas's full-size motocross machines, with simplified hose routing and strong protectors for durability. Starting is quick and reliable via a kickstarter, and the HIDRIA ECU provides precise engine management.
Beyond this, the MC 65 is assembled with plenty of parts that you'll find on our bigger motocross bikes, but obviously scaled down to fit, underlining just how serious we are about making a competitive 65cc machine. The handlebars can be mounted in four different positions, and the rear shock can be positioned from a standard high position into a lower setting to accommodate a wide range of youngsters. The frame itself is made from chromium molybdenum steel, enhancing the riding experience thanks to its precise geometry and flex. Mirroring a proven design concept from larger models, the shock is not connected to the upper frame tube, which reduces the energy transferred through the chassis and leads to greater stability. The subframe, a new hybrid construction, combines polyamide reinforced with glass fibre and two steel bars for lightweight durability.
The MC 65 features 35 mm WP XACT upside-down forks, which are lightweight and offer exceptional damping and comfort, with 215 mm of wheel travel. The air spring in the left fork leg can be easily adjusted using the supplied air pump to create the perfect setup. The WP XACT PDS monoshock provides 253.5 mm of rear suspension travel. Braking performance is confident and reliable, thanks to hydraulically operated Formula brake calipers biting on 198 mm waved front and 180 mm waved rear discs. The bike rolls on lightweight aluminium hubs laced to black anodized aluminium rims, fitted with MAXXIS tires for excellent traction and predictability. The unmistakable, all-red bodywork offers comfortable ergonomics with large contact points, allowing youngsters to grip the bike tighter for enhanced control. A flat seat profile also offers unrestricted movement, and a redesigned airbox with a snap-lock mounting design simplifies air filter changes. Yeah, we're stoked on our MC 65 and we know you will be too.
