Producing a broad spread of controllable power, the 449.9 cm³, SOHC, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine is designed with precision. Its shaft arrangements are positioned at the ideal centre of gravity, significantly enhancing manoeuvrability on challenging terrain. The lightweight aluminium cylinder features a 95 mm bore and 63.40 mm stroke, with a forged CP bridged-box-type piston for durability. The engine is also equipped with a 42 mm Keihin throttle body for optimized throttle response and efficient fuel delivery, and an electric starter for reliable ignition. A DDS wet multi-disc clutch with Brembo hydraulics ensures smooth and consistent engagement.

Aiding this agile feel is the chassis, which is manufactured using advanced engineering techniques to be perfectly balanced for a less fatiguing ride. The central double-cradle-type 25CrMo4 steel frame, with optimized wall thickness, provides durability and unparalleled rider feedback. The two-piece subframe, made from 60% polyamide and 40% aluminium, ensures exceptional strength at a low weight. Together with WP XACT 48 mm closed-cartridge coil-spring forks and a WP XACT monoshock with linkage, enhanced comfort across rough terrain is assured. Both front and rear suspension offer 300 mm of travel and are fully adjustable for compression and rebound damping.

The FE 450 is complete with modern electronics and high-quality components. It features a Map Select Switch for different engine characteristics and an optional Quickshifter. Braking performance is handled by premium Brembo brake systems, with a 260 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc. The bike rolls on D.I.D rims fitted with Michelin Enduro tyres. Functional bodywork, adorned with white, yellow, and blue graphics that are inspired by the Swedish heritage of the brand, further underlines the constant evolution of this established enduro machine.
