Due to arrive early December 2025.
The KTM 990 DUKE R has a reputation. Not only is it known to be the lightest, sharpest, most performance-focused mid-class NAKED motorcycle to ever wear the DUKE nameplate, packing a significant punch, but for being a no-nonsense street-brawler that pushes into super naked territory. Boasting a heavily revised LC8c parallel-twin motor nestled into an all-new, lightweight, and compact chassis, the KTM 990 DUKE R is all about being fast where it counts—in the corners and delivering exhilarating road-going performance.
At its heart lies a potent liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. Equipped with ride-by-wire throttle and a full suite of ride-mode tuning (Rain, Street, Sport, and optional Track and Performance modes), it provides vibrant power delivery with a distinct twin-cylinder pulse and a sharp, elastic mid-range punch.
The all-new steel tubular frame, utilizing the engine as a stressed member, balances agility and rigidity, creating a responsive and precise ride. The new die-cast aluminum subframe and a linkage swingarm construction provide improved traction. Fully adjustable WP APEX Open Cartridge front forks and a fully adjustable WP APEX shock at the rear ensure confident handling and tuned comfort across varied terrain.
Braking duties are handled by dual 320 mm discs up front with Brembo Stylema four-piston radial calipers, while a 240 mm disc at the rear provides balanced stopping power. Cornering ABS with a Supermoto mode and switchable traction control enhance safety and rider control without dampening performance.
With a seat height and ground clearance 15 mm higher than the standard 990 DUKE, and an agile chassis, the 990 Duke R remains both accessible and thrilling across rider levels.
Tech features include a new 8.88-inch TFT touchscreen display with smartphone connectivity, redesigned menus, gear indicator, ride-mode switch, and shift light. Cornering-enhanced traction control, lean-angle ABS, wheelie control, launch control, and optional Quickshifter+ elevate its electronics suite. LED lighting and sleek bodywork reflect KTM’s track-first design philosophy.
Aggressive styling—an evolved LED headlight design with auto-adjustable Position and Daytime Running Lights, a sculpted tank, and a compact tail unit—signifies “The Sniper’s” intent, taking inspiration from the 1390 Super Duke R. An adjustable, tapered aluminum handlebar and a higher center of gravity offer a nimble, street-fighter posture, while the compact package delivers maximal presence and minimum bulk.
The KTM 990 Duke R is a masterclass in super-middleweight naked performance—raw, modern, responsive, and built to thrive on both urban streets and backroad blasts.
