The 2026 KTM 890 SMT is a focused Supermoto-Touring machine that picks up where the iconic KTM 990 SMT left off, sharpening the midweight sport-touring category with a bold blend of pure tarmac performance and long-distance capability — a true asphalt-hunting weapon infused with unmistakable KTM and Supermoto DNA.

At its heart is a compact yet potent 889 cc parallel-twin LC8c engine, delivering approximately 105 PS (77 kW) and 100 Nm of torque through a slick six-speed gearbox. This liquid-cooled powerplant, combined with ride-by-wire throttle and a PASC slipper clutch, produces strong, linear acceleration with instant response — perfectly suited to attacking mountain passes or effortless high-speed cruising.

The 890 SMT is built around a high-strength chromium-molybdenum steel frame that uses the engine as a stressed member, resulting in a lightweight, rigid chassis with confidence-inspiring geometry. Suspension is handled by WP APEX components, including 43 mm inverted front forks and an adjustable rear monoshock, both offering 180 mm of travel to deliver sharp handling and composed comfort across a wide range of road conditions.

Rolling on 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels wrapped in aggressive Michelin PowerGP tyres, the SMT offers excellent grip, fast warm-up, and precise feedback. A generous ground clearance of around 227 mm and an 860 mm seat height provide relaxed ergonomics and ample freedom of movement, whether riding solo or two-up. A 15.8-litre rally-style fuel tank, combined with sharp bodywork, a low front fender, and a compact windscreen, completes its distinctive Supermoto-Touring stance.

Braking performance is handled by twin 320 mm front discs with radially mounted four-piston calipers, paired with a 260 mm rear disc, delivering strong, controlled stopping power. Advanced rider aids include lean-angle-sensitive traction control (MTC), Cornering ABS with a dedicated Supermoto ABS mode that allows rear-wheel lock-up, and multiple ride modes including Street, Sport, and Rain, with an optional Track mode for maximum performance. Optional Quickshifter+ and cruise control further enhance everyday usability and touring comfort.
