Our trial bike star, the GasGas TXT Racing 300 at Lings GasGas, is simply fantastic all around, embodying best-in-class performance, fantastic handling, and powerful torque. In short: our TXT Racing 300 is a trial workhorse! Not for the faint of heart, this 300cc 2-stroke is designed to eat the toughest climbs and challenges for breakfast.
With more than enough massive, clean, and well-usable power, the 294.1 cc, 1-cylinder, 2-stroke engine allows all trial experts to push their limits and exploit endless possibilities. The 79 mm cylinder bore features specially designed intake and exhaust ports for best-in-class performance, and the forged piston is finished with a special coating for maximum performance and extended durability. The gravity casting process used to make the crankcases ensures they are super lightweight and extremely tough, with internal parts and shafts carefully positioned to boost the bike's overall handling characteristics. A strong and reliable kickstarter ensures quick and easy starting. The HIDRIA ECU manages the engine, with a handlebar-mounted map switch allowing for a choice of two ignition curves for tailored power in every section, depending on riding style and weather conditions.
The TXT Racing 300 delivers truly outstanding trial performance thanks to its impressive manoeuvrability and superior suspension. The 25CrMo4 chrome-moly steel central-tube frame weighs just 6kg, offering optimal stiffness combined with low weight. TECH 39mm low-friction front forks are smooth and progressive, with a Kashima coating to maximize sensitivity. These forks feature a split design with a progressive spring in the left leg and an 'End Stroke' adjuster at the bottom to prevent harsh bottoming, offering 160mm of travel. At the rear, a TECH hydraulic damper with linkage provides 174mm of travel and is 2-way adjustable. The slim, super-solid, and lightweight swingarm is cast from a single piece of aluminum.
Braking and clutch hydraulics from Braktec provide complete control. Up front, a monoblock 4-piston BRAKTEC caliper bites a 185mm floating waved disc, while at the rear, a 2-piston BRAKTEC caliper works with a 150mm solid waved disc (FIM compliant). The compact 2.4-liter fuel tank is redesigned for enhanced ergonomics, fitting seamlessly within the slim, smooth, and ergonomic polypropylene bodywork, which is super flexible and returns to shape even if bent more than 180 degrees. Strong and lightweight tapered NEKEN handlebars are fitted with RENTHAL grips for comfort and control. The airbox features a clever design that houses a top-quality Twin Air filter and contributes to the bike's slim profile.
