Introduced last year, it's safe to say that our GasGas EC 450F at Lings GasGas has been a huge hit with enduro enthusiasts around the world! With some seriously usable torque down low, this big-bore steed is hands down the perfect bike for those who love to ride tall gears at low revs to cover ground at a rapid rate. Boasting agile handling characteristics usually found on smaller bikes, how our clever engineers created such a nimble machine for the size of the motor is simply mind-blowing.
Powering the EC 450F is a compact 449.9 cm³, 1-cylinder, 4-stroke SOHC engine, weighing just 29.2 kg. This powerful motor is positioned with a 2° backward tilt, centralizing mass for superior handling. It creates a monstrous amount of torque and peak power. Fuel is delivered by a 42mm Keihin throttle body, ensuring precise and instant response. The engine is paired with a 6-speed Pankl Racing Systems gearbox for durable and precise shifts. An electric starter, powered by a lightweight 12.8V 2 Ah Li-Ion battery, ensures reliable ignition. A DDS (Damped Diaphragm Steel) clutch with Braktec hydraulics provides consistent action. The Keihin EMS manages each gear's engine map, and with a standard Map Select Switch, you can activate two different engine maps (Map 1 for linear power, Map 2 for aggressive response), and an optional Quickshifter allows for seamless, clutch-less upshifts.
The chassis handles like a dream, which reduces fatigue and extends the fun! The central double-cradle-type 25CrMo4 steel frame features a new shock mount for improved anti-squat behavior and revised engine mounts for enhanced flex characteristics. This reduces weight and improves handling, making the bike much more settled through corners. The all-aluminium subframe is light, strong, and works as one with the new frame, helping to centralize mass. Forged aluminum triple clamps offer precise flex and align the fork tubes perfectly for smooth action and predictable handling.
WP suspension components deliver superior comfort and control. The 48mm WP XPLOR open cartridge forks and WP XACT monoshock with linkage are both fully adjustable by hand for compression and rebound, offering 300mm of travel front and rear. Braktec calipers with GasGas specific brake disks (260mm front, 220mm rear) provide amazing braking performance, allowing riders to stay on the gas longer and brake later into corners. Bigger footpegs offer a larger surface area for maximum grip and are less likely to catch in deep ruts. The unmistakable, all-red bodywork for a classic GasGas look, with new black-emblazoned graphics applied using IML technology, stays super fresh for a long time. NEKEN handlebars with lock-on ODI grips ensure a comfortable setup. A stronger one-piece air intake guarantees maximum airflow, and a beefier rubber tank support holds the fuel tank firmly in place while protecting the frame.
