Revs Up: KTM Factory Racing Fires Future MotoGP™ Engine to Life

2025 MotoGP News

Exciting times are ahead for MotoGP fans and the KTM family! Almost a decade after Red Bull KTM’s first steps into the ultra-competitive world of MotoGP™, the Austrian powerhouse has marked another historic milestone. The first dyno runs for the all-new 2027 850cc MotoGP engine concept have officially taken place at KTM’s headquarters in Mattighofen.

This next-generation engine has been designed to meet the forthcoming 2027 MotoGP technical regulations—and it’s already turning heads with its noise, excitement, and sheer potential. The dyno facility echoed with the unmistakable roar of KTM’s racing spirit as engineers, alongside CEO Gottfried Neumeister, gathered to witness the engine’s first power curve output.

Even more impressively, this new engine has been prepped to run on 100% non-fossil fuel, in line with MotoGP’s push towards a more sustainable future. This moment marks the beginning of an exciting new development phase for KTM as they continue to push engineering boundaries.

Since their MotoGP debut in 2016, KTM have celebrated victories, podiums with six different riders, and a fruitful partnership with Red Bull KTM Tech3. Over the years, KTM has established itself as a major force in the premier class, with MotoGP now firmly embedded as a cornerstone of KTM’s global racing programme.

KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer summed up the excitement perfectly:

“I am extremely happy that we could fire up the future of MotoGP already in September 2025. We are on a perfect time schedule to get the full bike up and running very soon. We have packed everything we have learned during the last years of MotoGP participation into this engine and I am very confident that this piece of art will become a benchmark in the seasons to come from 2027. I want to thank the factory and the whole team behind the project for this massive effort.”

The future of MotoGP is loud, powerful, and very orange—and we can’t wait to see the next-generation KTM RC16 take to the track in 2027.
