A Genuine Icon, Beautifully Evolved: Introducing the All-New Triumph Bonneville T40 & T40 Black
Triumph Motorcycles has just unveiled the newest addition to their globally successful 400cc platform, and it carries one of the most legendary names in motorcycling history. Meet the all-new Bonneville T40 and T40 Black.
Combining the timeless appeal of 1960s Bonneville design with category-leading modern technology and an accessible, A2-compliant engine, the T40 lineup is built to introduce a whole new generation to the joy of British motorcycling.
Authentic & Iconic Design From the very first glance, the T40 is unmistakably a Bonneville. It features all the hallmark design DNA of its larger siblings, including a beautifully sculpted teardrop fuel tank with hand-painted coach lining, a classic round LED headlight, a signature peashooter silencer, and traditional 18-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels.
Riders can choose between two distinct personalities:
-
The Bonneville T40: Leans into traditional heritage with chrome-finished mirrors, brushed aluminium engine covers, a brushed steel exhaust, and striking two-tone paint schemes like Aegean Blue/Fusion White.
-
The Bonneville T40 Black: Offers a darker, stealthier aesthetic. It features Matt Pewter Grey and Matt Phantom Black bodywork, powder-coated engine casings, gloss-black aluminium wheel rims, and a blacked-out header and silencer for a subtle modern edge.
A Dedicated 400cc Powerplant At the heart of the bike is the latest iteration of Triumph’s liquid-cooled 400cc TR Series engine. Triumph hasn't just dropped a standard engine in a new frame; they’ve given the T40 a revised cylinder head and a dedicated Bonneville engine tune.
Delivering 32 PS of peak power at 7,000 rpm and 36 Nm of torque down low at 5,000 rpm, the T40 provides a smooth, torque-rich delivery that makes everyday riding a breeze. The tuned exhaust note, amplified by the peashooter silencer, ensures it sounds exactly how a Bonneville should.
Class-Leading Tech with Classic Charm Beneath the vintage exterior lies a suite of highly advanced rider technology:
-
Circular 4-inch full-colour TFT display: Seamlessly integrated into the classic dash, featuring a special "Heritage Mode" for fans of analogue-style dials.
-
Triumph Navigation App: Full-map, turn-by-turn navigation directly on your screen.
-
Riding Modes: Road, Rain, Eco, plus two customisable modes to adjust throttle response, ABS, and traction control.
-
Rider Aids: Cruise control, Lean-sensitive Optimised Cornering ABS, and Optimised Cornering Traction Control come as standard.
Accessible and Rewarding Designed for everyday riding, the T40 weighs a nimble 191kg (ready-to-ride) and features an accessible 790mm seat height (which can be lowered to 770mm with an accessory seat). The generous bench seat, relaxed upright ergonomics, and standard centre stand make it practical, comfortable, and effortlessly easy to handle.
Pricing for the Bonneville T40 and T40 Black will be announced in early 2027, with bikes expected to arrive at Lings Triumph in late Spring 2027. Contact us today to register your interest and be among the first to ride a new modern classic!
