The 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship has officially wrapped up, and we are absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news from the Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing team.
The season finale took the paddock all the way to Darwin's Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex for the MXGP of Australia. Despite the intense heat, humidity, and a demanding red-clay circuit, Liam Everts rode phenomenally to close out the year in spectacular fashion.
A Dominant Weekend for Everts Everts came out swinging, setting the pace early by topping both Free Practice and Time Practice on Saturday. In Sunday’s opening MX2 moto, he battled hard in a tight three-way fight at the front, finishing a close third—just 2.168 seconds off the race winner.
But it was in the final moto of the year where Everts truly shined. After moving into second place early on, he applied the pressure and capitalized on a mistake by the leader on lap nine to seize control of the race. From there, he was untouchable, checking out to cross the finish line a massive 11.166 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack!
His 3-1 scorecard secured him second overall for the Grand Prix, marking his fifth consecutive GP podium.
A Phenomenal 2026 Season for Husqvarna The 45-point haul in Australia cemented Everts into an impressive 4th place in the final MX2 World Championship standings with 795 points. Wrapping up his second season with the team, Liam tallied an incredible seven Grand Prix podiums and three moto wins over the course of the year.
Reflecting on the finale, Everts said:
"It was a really good way to finish the season. I felt good on the bike all weekend, and it was nice to put everything together in the final moto. Once I got into the lead, I could focus on my own riding and pull away. To end the year with a win, another podium and fourth in the championship is really positive. A big thank you to the whole team for all their work this year."
We also have to give a massive shoutout to Kay de Wolf, whose rookie campaign in the premier MXGP class delivered plenty of highs. Despite battling injuries later in the year, de Wolf secured multiple podiums (including consecutive second-place finishes at Lommel and Arnhem) and finished 9th overall in the championship.
Altogether, it’s been a stellar year that saw Husqvarna clinch third place in the MX2 Manufacturers' Championship!
