The wait is over. For riders who hear the call of the trail and the allure of the road less travelled, Triumph has just rolled out the perfect machine. Expanding on its hugely popular 400cc Modern Classic range, the iconic British brand has officially launched the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC into its global dealer network. This isn't just a new paint job; it's a higher-specification, more rugged, and adventure-infused motorcycle ready to take you wherever your spirit leads.
Building on the acclaimed platform of the Scrambler 400 X, the new XC model has been purpose-built with genuine adventure capability at its core. As Paul Stroud, Triumph's Chief Commercial Officer, notes, there's a clear global demand for a Scrambler with even more off-road prowess, and the XC is here to deliver.

Dialled for Adventure: Wheels, Suspension, and Protection
So, what makes the Scrambler 400 XC the ultimate accessible adventurer? It all starts from the ground up. The most striking new feature is the set of side-laced spoked wheels, a hallmark of true off-road pedigree. These are paired with lightweight aluminium rims (a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear) and shod in versatile, tubeless Metzeler Karoo Street tyres. This combination not only enhances off-road readiness but also gives the bike an authentic, confident Scrambler stance.
Triumph hasn't stopped there. The XC is built to handle whatever the terrain throws at it. It boasts high-quality, long-travel suspension with 43mm big-piston upside-down front forks and a rear piggy-back monoshock, each providing a generous 150mm of travel. This setup ensures a smooth, controlled ride over everything from city potholes to gravel tracks.
To protect both rider and machine when the going gets tough, the XC comes factory-fitted with a suite of rugged accessories. A strong aluminium sump guard and engine bars protect vital components, while a new colour-coded high-level front mudguard, windscreen, and handguards shield the rider from the elements.
Power and Control Where It Counts
At the heart of the Scrambler 400 XC is the celebrated TR-series engine. This characterful 398cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder delivers a class-leading 40 PS of power and 37.5 Nm of torque. Managed by a sophisticated Bosch ride-by-wire throttle, the power delivery is intuitive and predictable, perfect for riders of all experience levels.
Modern technology is seamlessly integrated to enhance safety and control. The XC features switchable traction control and a dedicated off-road ABS mode, allowing you to adapt the bike's response to the surface beneath you. The six-speed gearbox, aided by a torque-assist clutch, ensures smooth and easy gear changes, reducing rider fatigue on longer journeys.
Unmistakable Scrambler DNA
With a design legacy tracing back to the pioneering factory Scramblers of the 1950s, the 400 XC is pure, undiluted Triumph. Designed in Hinckley, UK, it embodies the brand's commitment to quality and attention to detail. The signature sculpted tank with knee indents, classic engine profile with the Triumph triangle badge, and a flowing upswept silencer are all present and correct.
The finish is category-leading, from the black powder-coated engine casings to the gold-anodised forks. The commanding riding position, wide handlebars, and high-grip footpegs are all ergonomically designed for both seated comfort and standing control on loose surfaces.
